yoursinspirit: The Tour Begins
The woman giving the tour was amazing, REALLY amazing. Naturally I forget her name but she was very animated and entertaining as well as informative. Her co-worker was very nice and very patient with me, which can be a struggle.
Our first "stop" was in the library. We went through into the east block and up to the second top range then walked along there to the library. On the way I saw this rather immaculate (compared to most of the others) cell. I assume they used it when filming the things they filmed in here, like The Shawshank Redemption
which is, by the way, a really wonderful film.
All neat and tidy. Wait until you see the others!
This is more like the norm. Lots of paint falling off, and toilets destroyed. The cabinets and mirrors were often completely gone or destroyed. Sometimes there was so much paint on the floor that it crunched under our feet.
This is a look at the doorway in the library, the sunburst design is beautiful and so very unexpected in all of this.
This is a bit of the view in the library. The "obs" on the counter are actually paint. This room had many off rooms which I did not enter, but others did.
I found this door incredibly beautiful. There were other rooms, one of which was used as a law library, I could see many of the pieces of paper all over the place. One bunch was a leaflet for prisoners to know their rights.
I found this one interesting. The light is not sunlight - the night was completely overcast. No light was coming at my camera, and it was actually still "daylight" out so the chances of it being a light from another person are lower. There is also a "mist" kind of thing down near Mike's hand; I can't explain that either.
I was really strongly drawn to this corner, I tried to get a good picture of it but didn't really accomplish my goal. At this point we all went up an obscenely cramped circular staircase up into the tower where the guard tower is. We were not allowed to take pictures from there as the new prison is in that direction.
I'm wiping out, more tomorrow-ish.

The mist under the person hand is actually movement from that person, look to the side of them, you can see the outline of their body, was there someone taking a picture in that direction? I am asking because that light has a form in it and it matches the persons outline.

Yeah that could be. I'll send you the full size and you can take a closer looky.

Can you post what you think in here? I'd like it all on record. What you think about the picture, not what you think about stuff like Karaoke or anything... *grin*

I didn't see the orange flare on his face the first time. You can see his outline behind him, shadow or from Movement. The flare on the wall is in the right angle for his shadow, I don't know why its orange. Sometimes it could be the lighting, the colors in the room. The color reminds me of sunlight that would come into a window. But I don't know, because I was not there. I don't know if there is a window or doorway near him. Either way, its a very interesting photo.

OH! The bottom pictures, around the window frame, it looks misty. Did you do anything to this one? Edited it besides resizing?

No it has only been resized. If I change a picture it will only be to crop or resize it, or take a pieces from it and add later. If I DO lighten something I am putting that in the description (only happened once so far with the pic with the orange weird things). Picturetrail seems to have lost one of my pictures again. They won't accept blame, I'm sure, but they had better do a good job of finding it. It was there this afternoon!

deber58: The Window Mist
I think you achieved your goal! Another shot would of solidified it though I think. It could be light glare up the side of the window because it is painted white. But, not across the bottom like ,that I wouldn't think! Did you use a flash in this shot? I wonder who is still there longing to be outside? What was in this room when the prison was in operation? Were there bars on it like in the cells?

I don't know that that white light is anything but light bounce. I haven't looked into it, but it does follow the form of the window sill and that would be consistent with light bounce.
This window was in the library. I can not specifically recall if there are bars on that window, I'd have to check another pic. Yes, it has bars, as do the windows on the other walls. The beauty of this room is that it is open and large. I would want to be there.
